Dear friends, musicians, former strangers, and all of the above,

Due to many adventures, this is the first newsletter in a few months. I hope the time apart has been eventful as mine has. Many lands have been traveled, music played, and food eaten. Read on to find out where, upcoming concerts, CD releases and more! May your holidays be filled with peace, beauty and music; all at once is ideal.

Much Music,
Aaron Larget-Caplan

Post Fire Update

We have moved again. After the house fire in February 2007, we moved to Concord & then Newton, Massachusetts. (pics on facebook.com) In August of 2008 we relocated to Cambridge, a most opinionated city, and are calling it home. We are selling the burnt house and dealing with insurance, which is much worse than scales or tuning! Thanks to all for your patience and support during this time.

Italian Adventure

Castello di GaleazzaCatherine & I just returned from Italy, where I performed in Sardinia, Florence, and Bologna. It was magical to be moving sound in a 13th century castle surrounded by candles, books and beautiful original art. Castello di Galeazza about 40min NW of Bologna does exist and I recommend visiting it for peace, beauty and the occasional concert. Clark Lawrence is a gracious host with a beautiful garden. See the pick though add frost. Check out: www.Galeazza.com

Castello di GaleazzaAfter Italy, Catherine and I drove many miles to visit her home outside of Bordeaux France. But first, we drove through Monaco to meet Claude & Josette Gauthier. Claude is the artist who designed the cover of my debut-CD ‘Tracing a wheel on water’. Besides amazing food, oysters of amazing subtlety and substance, we made many contacts and received invites to return. YEAH! I look forward to returning soon with more concerts to perform.

In conclusion, Italy definitely ranked higher with hot chocolate, pasta, & meats. France won in regards to breads, butter and cheeses. It was a toss up with seafood, since they are so very different (Atlantic versus Mediterranean). Both were cold in temperature but warm in spirit, beauty and history.

Must visits:

  • Don Chisciotte in Nuoro, Sardinia on your next visit. The chef/owner Antonello is an artist of the highest caliber. Just opened and amazing, truly fantastic.
  • Les Flots Bleus for oysters and other seafood on Iles d’Oleron, France.
  • Cioccolato caldo con pane - Ferrara, Venice or Bologna. Not quite soup, nor the watery stuff we have in the states, but thick, rich and full of life! Smoother and not as raw as the hot chocolate in Southern Spain. Accompany with some light cookies and mineral water. A highly memorable experience.
